New Standard Guide for a Level I Evacuation of a Passenger Using Equine

1. Scope

1.1 This guide establishes the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) required for Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel to perform a rescue or evacuation using equine as transportation.
1.2 A Mounted Search and Rescue (MSAR) team normally provides the handler and suitable equine.
1.3 All search and rescue personnel should be trained to this guide to be able to perform appropriate assessments and provide assistance to MSAR.
1.4 Further training may be required before a Level I Evacuation of a Passenger Using Equine can be performed by SAR or MSAR personnel, depending on the regulations or policies of the user or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
