1. Scope

This practice describes the methododlogy for sampling and analyzing gases present or generated during fires using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The practice is suitable for the collection and analysis of gaseous species that can be detected using FTIR spectroscopy. The methodology is specified by the U.S. Navy in conjunction with various ASTM smoke density chamber methods.
