Research Report RR:F03-1017
Research Report F03-1017 presents the results of the Interlaboratory Study used to establish the precision and bias statement for ASTM F2466, Standard Practice for Determining Silicone Volatiles in Silicone Rubber for Transportation Applications. The collaborative study included 4 labs who used method F2466. The study evaluated lab to lab consistency in determining silicone volatile content of 5 different types of Room Temperature Vulcanizable silicones (RTV Silicones); and 3 different types of High Consistency Silicone Elastomers (HCE Silicones). Based on the ILS results, precision and bias statements were prepared and added to the F2466 document. In addition, sources of error found during the running of ILS 0028 were added to a section of F2466. All results from one laboratory were excluded because it deviated significantly from the method used to develop the response factors of each cyclic silicone standard.. The research report presents summary method performance statistics as well as the measurement data used to calculate results for the study.
