The objective of this round robin was to evaluate the precision of a new automatedsmoke point test apparatus and at to revise the precision of the current manual IP 57test method.The test method used for this ILS was based on the IP 57 with the addition of dedicated sections for the automated procedure.SC-B-10 decided to include two domestic kerosines in this particular exercise to take the opportunity to determine the precision of both procedures for these types of samples that were not part of the scope of the current IP 57. The inter laboratory study was performed from November 2011 to February 2012, with 11 manual lab, 13 automated lab, 15 different samples tested in blind duplicate. Theresults were evaluated for precision according to the statistical procedures given in IP367 (EN ISO 4259) as implemented in ASTM D02 computer program D2PP.
