An Interlaboratory Study was conducted to establish a precision statement forASTM D 2983, after re-writing the method for clarity. In addition, even thoughliquid baths were mentioned in the method, they had never been included in anyprecision work that was published. Therefore, these types of instruments weretested in the study. Lastly, the method has always mentioned having usefulnessup to high viscosities, however, the past work never went above 200,000 mPa-s.This study included oils up to 900,000 mPa-s.
