Committee Scope

The scope of the Committee shall be the formulation of standard specifications, test methods, terminology, practices, guides, and the promotion of knowledge relating to the manufacturing and use of manufactured-masonry units of inorganic materials including but not limited to fired clay and shale, concrete, sand-lime and plastic coating for such units, and except for test methods, for site or plant prefabricated masonry building elements of these units. Units for use as refractories are excluded from the scope of the Committee.
The Committee shall encourage research on the manufacturing and use of manufactured masonry units and building elements of these units.
The work of this Committee will be coordinated with other ASTM committees and other organizations having mutual interest, especially ASTM Committee C12 on Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry.
