         Symposium
ASTM Committee E21 on Space Simulation and Applications of Space Technology was formed in 1963. E21 meets in conjunction with other technical societies such as Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) or Society for Advancement of Materials and Processes Engineering (SAMPE). They also act as a co-sponsor for the IEST Space Simulation Conference. The Committee, with a current membership of approximately 35, has jurisdiction over 56 standards published in the Annual Book of Standards, Volume 15.03. E21 has 4 technical subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. Information on this subcommittee structure and E21's portfolio of approved standards and Work Items under development are available from the List of Subcommittees and Standards. These standards play an important role in evaluating contamination sources and prevention in cleanrooms and other facilities and as they may impact performance of equipment in the in space environment, in promoting space system contamination controls and such technologies for the public benefit.
