STP 979 presents 11 papers that focus on advanced and high temperature materials for the 1990’s and beyond. The papers are divided into three sections: high-temperature materials for power generation, including ferritic and austenitic steels; advanced high-temperature materials for the gas turbine engine and advanced processing, including particle metallurgy and directional solidification; and advanced materials for ground transportation, including one paper on composites.
