ASTM Manual 43 provides environmental and business professionals with a tool that will improve communication, cooperation, and ultimately improve both party's ability to make sound business decisions with respect to environmental site assessments (ESAs) and ASTM E 1527, Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process; and E 1903, Standard Guide for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Process.

E 1527 covers how to conduct an environmental site assessment using the Phase I Process, including report preparation.

E 1903 provides a framework for employing good commercial and customary practices in conducting a Phase II environmental site assessment (ESA) of commercial property with respect to the potential presence of contaminants within the scope of CERCLA as well as petroleum products.

These ASTM environmental standards were created to help with the resolution of some of the competing interests that may arise during a real estate transaction.

Manual 43 ESA includes standards E1527 and E 1903 and examines the technical aspects of the standards and explains how environmental professionals can apply and use them to generate sufficient environmental information that can be used by all parties involved in the real estate transaction.

This book is a must-read for anyone using standards E 1527 and E 1903 or the information generated from the application of these standards.
